Sports, Recreation & Culture

Rawhitiroa School is part of the Eastern Districts Rural cluster and many of our sporting events and teams are combined with the schools that make up the rural cluster.

Most schools in the cluster host inter-school events including:

  • Swimming sports (Ngaere)

  • Athletics (Toko)

  • Tabloid Sports (Midhirst)

  • Jones Cup (Toko)

  • Cross Country (Rawhitiroa)

  • Debating (Pembroke)

  • Jones Cup practice (Marco/Makahu/Huiakama)

  • Junior Swimming Sports (Rawhitiroa)

With the help of our parents and whanau who provide transport, we are able to travel to the different schools to participate in all these events. We aim to send home details of each event 2-3 weeks prior.

As well as inter-school competitions, we also combine with Eastern Districts for extra-curricular sports teams such as rugby, touch, netball and hockey. Forms to register your interest in joining a team are sent home before the season starts.

Pet Day 2021

Check out all the highlights from this year's Pet Day held on

We changed things up a bit this year by excluding the gala part of the day which will be organised for a time during the summer. We found we were able to give the students who brought pets much deserved time and appreciation for the hard work they put into rearing their animals.
